Pepito Madeline

Immediately, Madeline judges the boy (known as Pepito) as a "Bad Hat", or trouble-maker. Pepito performs many antics that vex the schoolgirls, including shooting them with a slingshot, but whenever Ms. Clavel is present, he acts like a polite gentleman, earning her admiration much to the girls' chagrin. Back at the Old House, Madeline tells Pepito and the other girls about how she and Genevieve stopped the scar-faced man, calling her the real hero for causing the man to fall over. Pepito says he would have made Gordo, a snake, bite the scar-faced man. In Madeline and the Bad Hat she meets Pepito, the son of the Spanish Ambassador to France, and works to convince him to change his naughty ways.
